Blog The Week ~ The Illness

Week commencing 29th April

This week was very uneventful because I had to go and have a migraine on Tuesday and Wednesday was Aspire Engage, a University workshop which my class had to attend. That being said, I got a lot done on Monday.

MONDAY

In order to try and give myself a nice head-start (which clearly failed), I got started straight away on my main research source: a survey. I had made this as a target for this week so I began by doing that. I used Google Forms to create a simple survey (see Research tab to see the survey results). I posted it in a few online forums I’m part of and started gaining responses very quickly. I then began collecting videos that would be good for me to analyse and gain inspiration from on Tuesday. Well, that was the plan however, when Tuesday arrived, I survived a grand total of 2 hours in college before I had to go home.

WEDNESDAY

As this was Aspire Engage, I did not complete any work towards my Final Major Project, however it was very useful in informing me of my options after college. It was always helpful as it shows that I am expanding my creative field because I got to have a go at sand blasting glass (see Sketch tab for my experience of Wednesday)

Considering my roller coaster of a week, I feel that I have started to fall behind on my work for this project. Although I can not blame myself for my migraine, I only really have myself to blame for being behind. I’m a serial procrastinator and I honestly only find the motivation to do my work a couple weeks before the deadline. This is something I hopefully plan to work on in the next couple of weeks so that when my second year FMP rolls about, I will be motivated and ready to complete my work in good time.

NEXT WEEK…

  • I will begin to plan my shot list and write up some ideas for filming day.
  • Complete a few more of my research documents
  • Experiment with a few ideas

Blog The Week ~ The Beginning

Week commencing 22nd April

For my first week of my final major project, I worked on making sure my first draft of my proposal was complete, as well as filling out my Action Plan for the duration of this project. With Monday being a bank holiday, I only had 1 and a half days to complete these tasks.

TUESDAY

I spent the majority of Tuesday filling out my first draft of my proposal. I wanted to make sure I had done it correctly, hence why I spent so much time on it. I found it a lot harder than it was probably supposed to be. As a person, it takes me a very long time to begin writing something but once I’ve started writing, I have a flow and it gets done pretty quickly. That being said, it took me hours to get the first words down. I got some help in making some sentence starters and finally produced a proposal (see Proposal tab for my first draft). I had to shorten it a lot for it to fit into the suggested word count which was tricky in itself, but I finally managed to shorten it, whilst still making sure it made sense.

WEDNESDAY

With only a few hours until the deadline for our Action Plan, it was all action on my computer. As previously mentioned, I struggling getting started on writing things, and this was no different. I feel, although this is an okay guide to how to use my time, I won’t end up following my action plan to the exact dates, things change and with workshops coming up, I may have to prioritise those things over my plan.

NEXT WEEK…

  • Create a survey to gain some ideas and opinions from the general public.
  • Start practising my editing techniques
